Speaker: [00:00:00] Before someone starts a personal chef business, they almost always ask the same questions. What if it doesn’t work? What if I fail? What if I can’t get any clients? What if nobody hires me? What if I’m not good enough? What if I end up just wasting my time, my money? But today I wanna give you a better question.
What if it works? What if you actually succeed? Let’s explore what that would look like and why. This is the question that changes everything. Hey there. I’m Chef Shelly. I’ve been a personal chef for over 19 years, and when I’m not cooking for my own clients, I help passionate cooks Just like you start your own personal chef business and you don’t need culinary school.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a home cook or a burnout restaurant pro, you can do this and get paid to do what you love, cook on your own terms for all the freedom, joy, and income that you want.
And this idea, what if it works, [00:01:00] is one of the most powerful mindset shifts you can make when you’re standing on the edge of something new. Let me show you what’s possible when you’re about to do something new and scary, like starting your own personal chef business. It is a hundred percent natural for your brain to yell.
What if it doesn’t work? What if nobody wants us? Who are we to call ourselves a chef? If we didn’t go to culinary school and work in a restaurant for a hundred years? What if we waste all our money and we end up homeless in the gutter? Okay, that last one. That last one was a little hyperbole, but you get what I’m going for here.
Fear feels helpful to our brain because it’s just trying to protect us, but here’s the truth. Fear doesn’t predict the future. It’s just recycling your past. It pulls up every time you hesitated, didn’t follow [00:02:00] through, or got discouraged, and it says, see, we can’t trust ourselves. But seriously, that’s not the truth.
That’s just a broken record, and the only way to stop it is to put on a new record. So let’s start by asking a different question. What if it does work? What if you get your first client in a couple weeks that that client refers you to more clients? You end up fully booked. Working weekdays only doing what you love.
What if you finally stop dreading Sunday nights? What if you make more money in less time than you ever did it in your restaurant job? What if you get texts like, my kid loves the pasta? Thank you so much. See you Monday. What if the thing that changes your life isn’t a new job or a side hustle, or waiting until you feel ready, but [00:03:00] simply deciding to believe that it actually might work?
Because here’s the kicker. The only way to know is to try. Fear tells you all the ways it could go wrong, but let me tell you what I’ve actually seen happen dozens of times inside my academy. People with zero experience get their first client. I. Within three weeks, I see stay at home. Parents turn their love of cooking into real income.
I have former restaurant pros, finally building something of their own. No drama, no chaos, no 12 hour shifts, and they’re not able to do it because they’re fearless at all. But because they asked themselves the better question and they let possibility drive the bus. Not fear. Let’s flip the fear one one more time.
What if you don’t try? What if you wait for the perfect [00:04:00] time for your schedule to calm down or until you feel confident? What’s waiting for you down that road? More wondering. More second guessing, more watching others do and hear me tell you about people that are doing what you wished you had done already, that you think you needed the courage to try more time passing by you.
So what’s really scarier at the end of the day, trying and learning as you go, or never knowing? What actually could have been, because you don’t need to take a giant leap. You just need to take the next right step. Get clarity on what kind of service you wanna do, learn how to price it properly, practice talking about what you do, and then take action.
The difference between what if I fail and. What if it [00:05:00] works isn’t actually what’s possible or not possible. It’s just what you decide to focus on If you’re ready to shift into what if it does work, energy, you can start by grabbing my free guide, how to do meal prep services for clients.
