If you’ve watched any of my videos before, of course, you know what I’m going to lead off with. Start planning. Plan like a pro. Before you even touch a knife, you need a plan. And this is where [00:01:00] a prep list becomes your best friend. Look at what you’re cooking for your cook day for your client and ask yourself, What am I making?

What needs to be started first? What order makes the most sense to do these in? Having things like this mapped out saves you so much stress and time. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later. You don’t want to be dealing with this when you’re in the client’s home, when you’re trying to get through your cook day efficiently.

Now, that’s before the having a plan, knowing where you’re going to start, what you’re going to do next, organizing your actual cooking. When you’re there, before you start cooking, get everything out, all the dried ingredients, the tools, the equipment, get your recipes down on the counter. This keeps you organized, focused, and way less likely to forget that one thing that the dish has to have.

And of course, your cookday system isn’t just about the cooking. Make sure after you’ve prepared the food and chilled it down [00:02:00] properly, knowing what you know about. So, food safety, once your meals are ready, label them with the dish name and the expiration date. Your clients will love you for going that extra step to make their lives a little bit easier.

Don’t forget, just create a one sheet menu with their food and heating instructions and that’ll save you from getting that 8pm text, how am I supposed to heat this up?

Having a meal prep system isn’t about being perfect, it’s just about being prepared. When you streamline this, you work faster, you feel less stressed, and you will be more able to consistently deliver meals that your clients rave about.
